Nursery Sports Day

Monday 13th July 2015

Despite the grey sky and a little bit of rain we had a great time on Sports Day. All of the children were fantastic and tried really hard at all of the activities!

Summer Term in Nursery

We've had a very busy summer term in Nursery!

Here is some of what we've been doing . . . 

Africa Alive

We had a great time looking at all of the animals at Africa Alive. Thank you to all of the parent helpers. 

We were so good we all got a medal. Well done Everyone!

Growing!

We've been learning all about growing and growing lots of things ourselves.

 

We planted some cress seeds. We learned that to help seeds grow you need to plant them in soil, water them and make sure they get lots of sunshine. Our cress grew really quickly and smelt nice too!

We read Jack and the Beanstalk and grew our own beans in the window. We looked at the everyday and watched as they got bigger and bigger. We could see the roots growing too!

We also had caterpillars in nursery. We loved watching them grow as they ate their food and got bigger and bigger. Then they went in to their chrysalis's and we waited and waited until . . . 

. . . they turned in to Beautiful Butterflies! We watched them fly away outside. 

When we played outside afterwards we would look for them!

Nursery - Road Safety

Over the summer term in Nursery we will be learning about road safety using The Children's Traffic Club resources. We will be watching stories, learning songs, playing games and engaging in activities to help us learn about how to be safe near and when crossing the road.

Helping your child at home

Whilst out and about with your child talk to them about why it is important that they hold your hand or on to a push chair or pram. Why they should walk and not run by the road. Invole them in making decision about whether the road is safe to cross - stop, look, listen and think - is it safe to cross?

Each child will also recieve a Children's Traffic Club pack full of activities they can do at home to help them learn about road safety.

We will keep you up dated about all of the learning we do about road safety so that you can extend your child's learning by talking to them about it at home and practicing being safe it in real life whilst out and about.

Nursery Spring Term Family Cafe

Thank you to all of the parents, carers and family members that came along to our Easter and Spring themed Family Cafe. We had a great time! We read the story Peely Wally.

We loved making bird feeders. It was a bit tricky threading the cereal on to the pipe cleaners but we kept trying and made some fantastic bird feeders. Thank you to the parents who shared photographs of their bird feeders in action on Tapestry. 

We decorated Easter eggs and made them absolutely perfect just like Peely Wally's egg.

We made our very own Peely Wally's.

As it is Spring we carefully drew beautiful yellow daffodils.
