Family Cafe!

Today, lots of our children's families came to join Reception for our Family Cafe morning.

We shared a story called 'The Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle. Then we made our own caterpillars using green paper, glitter, pipecleaners and googly eyes.

 We learnt a song about caterpillars called 'There's a tiny caterpillar on a leaf', maybe you could ask your child to share this song with you!

Thank you to all of the families that came and shared this special morning. It would be lovely to see you all at the next one

 Early years book sharing

The children will be bringing home story books that they have chosen from our library.

We hope you enjoy sharing the books together

Top tips for book sharing

·        Sit close together when sharing a book and encourage your child to hold the book themselves and/or turn the pages

·        If your child has a dummy ask them to take it out and put it away.

·        Don’t be afraid to use funny voices – it’s a great way to make your child giggle. And don’t be afraid to sing either – they won’t care whether or not you sing in tune or know the words!

·        When you talk to your child about what’s going on in a book, give them plenty of time to respond. Try to make comments about what is happening in the story. For example, you could comment “that giant has very big feet”. Try not to ask too many questions.

·        Sharing books isn’t just about the words - point to the pictures and relate them to something your child knows

·        And lastly – make it fun! It doesn’t matter how you read with a child, as long as you both enjoy the time together.

Queen's Jubilee Party!!

Reception celebrated the Queen's Jubilee wth a party. Year 6 and nursery joined in too!

We made some yummy cakes and all the children brought in some food for us to share :)

This week we have been busy making crowns, flags and Queen's necklaces!

We learned about where the Queen lives and what she looks like!

Blogging Guidelines

Welcome to our class blog. We use it to share the things we are learning about in class with our families and with others around the world. It’s very important that we understand how to use the blog, and the internet, in a safe way.

We’ve come up with a set of guidelines for safe blogging:

• Students will only be identified by their first name. Posts written by students are checked by Mrs Bensly before they are published on the blog.
• Posts will not include personal details about students such as addresses and family information.
• All comments submitted have to be approved by Mrs Bensly before they are included on the blog.
• Parents who leave comments are asked not to use last names either. Please post comments as ‘John’s Mum’ or ‘Sue’s Nanny’, etc.
• All students must abide by the blogging rules we have established as a class.
• Any photos of students on the blog will be anonymous without any names connected to them.

Pancake Day!

Reception children enjoyed making their own pancakes using flour, milk and eggs.

The children followed the instructions on their own!

After the pancakes had been fried, the children chose a topping of their choice!
